  For any kind of wear-resistant materials, hardness and toughness are a pair of contradictory unity. The research on the production process of wear-resistant materials is actually to solve the best matching of hardness and toughness of materials, so as to achieve the purpose of wear-resistant and not broken. For users, the lowest wear of steel ball is expected, but more importantly, the wear-resistant material should not be broken. When the crushing rate exceeds 2%, the grinding efficiency will decrease obviously, so the toughness can not be sacrificed in order to pursue high hardness. At the same time, the choice of hardness of wear-resistant materials should also consider the ratio of hardness and material.

  Generally, the wear resistance coefficient ξ can be used as a function of the hardness ratio hm / ha.

  ξ=f(Hm/Ha)

  Where HM -- hardness of grinding medium;

  Ha -- material hardness.

  When k = hm / ha = 0.8-1.3, the wear resistance coefficient ξ increases with the increase of hardness. When k ≥ 1.3, the hardness of the wear-resistant material increases again, but the wear-resistant coefficient ξ does not increase significantly. At this time, the toughness of the wear-resistant material decreases significantly, so that the steel ball is easy to break.
